What to Expect

Preparing for your visit:

  • Going to the doctor can feel scary especially when kids don’t know why they’re going. We suggest you share with your child 1-2 days before their visit that “In a couple of days, you will go meet a new doctor at a clinic and play with a lot of toys. Nothing at this clinic will hurt. There will be no shots! She will want to see you do puzzles and draw and play with you some. Lots of kids go to this clinic to learn to feel better and have more fun!”
  • Be sure to bring snacks, something to drink, and a light jacket.
  • We strongly encourage you to only bring the child being evaluated for this assessment.

The initial assessment

Part 1: Evaluation – 90 minutes

  • We will review all reports and information provided to us and ask additional background information as well as discuss specific concerns.
  • Your child will have a neurobehavioral evaluation and any needed standardized tests specific to your area of concern.
  • If additional tests are required for assessment, they will be recommended at this time.

Part 2: Feedback Session- 30 minutes

  • This session is just for parents and caregivers.
  • Findings and diagnoses from part one of the evaluation will be discussed.
  • Dr. Eboni will outline treatment recommendations as well as place any necessary referrals.
  • You will be provided a written summary of your child’s developmental evaluation and treatment plan.

Follow-up appointments are specific to meet your child’s needs.

  • Follow-up frequency varies and is specific to the needs of each child.

To ensure a complete evaluation:

  • We want you to get the most out of your visit.
  • Please be sure to provide completed intake form as well as copies of previous evaluations such as IEPs, therapy reports, educational and psychological testing ahead of your visit.
  • We respect your time and strive to keep waiting times to a minimum. Please remember to add in extra time for traffic and wrong turns.
  • We use a “therapist model” in our clinic. That means, there is a certain amount of time dedicated for each visit. If you arrive late, your visit may be truncated to ensure patients following are seen at their scheduled appointment time. Also, we will schedule follow-up appointments when more needs to be discussed or evaluated beyond your scheduled appointment time.
